| These
contemporary masterpieces rupas (statues),
are amongst the very best created in the
20th century.
One-of-a-kind, and totally handmade (using the cire purdue [lost-wax] method of casting perfected by Newari artisans over the last two millenniums), they are fashioned of pure copper and have a beautiful rich dark-looking antique finish. This quality of statue, reflecting an inner intensity and innate beauty, is very difficult to obtain in the Himalayas or elsewhere. We only find a handful of pieces of this caliber each year. |
