Chakrasamvara is pictured here in non-dual union with his consort, Vajravarahi. Their embrace is known in Tibetan as the Yab-Yum, meaning “father-mother”. From the Tantric school of Vajrayana Buddhism, the Yab-Yum symbolizes the unity of all opposites as one. Chakrasamvara represents the Bodhisattva’s compassion, and Vajravarahi represents wisdom, or the realization of Emptiness.
