About the sound sample: This remarkable set took two years to match, and it is completely unique from any set we’ve ever recorded. Hence its mix is unique, too.

In the first half of the recording, you hear the strikes of the matched pairs of the bowls about half a second apart, hit wth the wool end of a 30mm wool-padded mallet. Four single bowls are interspersed with the matched pairs as well.

In the second half of the recording, the isolated fundamental tones of each bowl ascend in the same order, played wth the leather end of a 30mm leather-padded mallet. But because the frequencies of each pair of singing bowls are so well matched, you can only tell when the second of the pair comes in by the shift in beat pattern it creates. This recording is 21 minutes and 24 seconds, the longest mix we have ever recorded. Enjoy!
