About the Sound Sample

First, you will hear the bowl struck on its upper outside edge with a 30mm Himalayan hardwood Tibetan-wool padded mallet. Next, you’ll hear the rim tone of the bowl being played around the outside rim with the leather end of a 30mm leather-padded mallet.

Antique Mani Singing Bowl

Although this rare singing bowl type hails from Orissa, India, we nicknamed them “Mani” (meaning “jewel” in Tibetan) due to their purity of tone. Their conical shape amplifies their sound, making them the only self-amplifying singing bowl. Like other ultra-thick singing bowls, their rim and fundamental tones are the same, increasing the intensity of their volume and reducing the length of their sustain.

Package Includes:

  • Tibetan silk-brocade Singing Bowl Cushion (shown above) in your choice of Tibetan Red, Royal Blue, or Plum. Please note your preference in the comments section on checkout.
  • Professional 22mm leather-padded mallet.
  • Tips and Information Brochure: historical information, general metallurgical analysis, how to hold the mallet, playing around the rim, and advanced techniques.
